Chennai to Hyderabad by Cab: Distance, Fare & Travel Time
Chennai to Hyderabad is a serious highway run — roughly 630 km, 10 to 11 hours through Andhra Pradesh and into Telangana. Flights win for solo travellers, but for families, groups and relocations with luggage, a comfortable cab with a professional driver often works out cheaper per head and far more flexible.
Route and travel time
The drive runs via Tirupati, Kadapa and Kurnool before joining the Hyderabad highway — national highway standard for nearly all of it. A pre-dawn 4:30–5 AM start from Chennai reaches Hyderabad by late afternoon with two proper halts. Some travellers prefer breaking at Kurnool; we plan it either way.
What the fare looks like
A one-way sedan drop is roughly ₹8,200 at ₹13 per km; most groups take an Innova or tempo traveller for the long haul. Interstate permits for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are included in our handling — you never touch the paperwork.
Planning tips for the long haul
- Start by 5 AM — the Tirupati bypass and Kadapa stretch flow best early
- Two halts recommended: Kadapa for breakfast, Kurnool for lunch
- Relocation with full luggage? Book the Innova or tempo traveller class
- Overnight-halt version available as a two-day package with driver stay
